DSD NPO portal reminder for registered NPOs
The Department of Social Development (DSD) has introduced a self-service NPO online portal as part of a phased rollout. Phase 1 (from 1 September 2025) focused on new NPO registrations, and Phase 2 (from 1 October 2025) enables registered NPOs to submit annual reports and key organisational updates via their online profile.
DSD encourages all registered NPOs to create an account and use the system for these submissions. This forms part of DSD’s broader move to digitise NPO services, improve turnaround times, and give organisations a clearer, trackable way to manage compliance submissions and updates.
If you need to submit any of the following:
- Narrative reports and Annual Financial Statements (AFS)
- Amendments to founding documents
- Change of financial year
- Change of board members
- Other post-registration changes and reporting requirements
Follow the process below
Step 1
Create your user profile on the DSD NPO portal
Register your profile on the DSD NPO portal so you can access online submissions.
Step 2
Link your registered NPO to your profile
Once your profile is created, link the NPO you are submitting for by capturing the NPO number in the format shown on the system.
Example format: 007-160 NPO
Step 3
Initiate and submit your report or change request
After linking your organisation:
- Go to Organisations (top menu)
- Select the organisation you are reporting for
- Click Report, then Initiate Report
The system will indicate which reports and supporting documents are required.
What this means for NPOs using the DSD NPO portal
For registered NPOs, it means annual submissions and key organisational changes should be completed through your DSD online profile, rather than being sent through helpdesk/email channels. Using the portal also makes it easier to track what’s required and keep your organisation’s records up to date in one place
Before you upload, it helps to make sure your documents are complete and named clearly (especially your AFS, narrative report, and any supporting schedules). The DSD NPO portal will prompt you for what’s required, but having everything ready upfront can reduce delays and repeat uploads.
After submitting, keep an eye on your request status inside your online profile so you can track progress and respond quickly if additional information is requested. If you are submitting on behalf of an organisation, double-check you are linked to the correct NPO profile before initiating the report or change request.
DSD NPO Portal Troubleshooting
If you are having issues accessing the DSD NPO portal or completing an upload, DSD may still accept submissions and queries via email while the portal is stabilising:
NPO Reports: NPOReports1@dsd.gov.za
Use this for annual report submissions, including Narrative Reports and Annual Financial Statements (AFS), and supporting schedules.
NPO Enquiries: Npoenquiry@dsd.gov.za
Use this for general portal or compliance process queries, follow-ups, and status enquiries.
NPO Registrations: NPORegistration1@dsd.gov.za
Use this for registration-related queries and support for new NPO registrations.
DSD’s direction remains online submissions via your DSD profile, so use the portal where possible and use the email channels only if you’re unable to complete the process online.
